About the recipe for Pork Chops with Apple and Cinnamon

We ate a lot of chicken meat this month, but sometimes I want to cook pork chops to mix things up. The apple and pork chops have only a few ingredients, but the taste is so good you’ll lick your fingers. This recipe is perfect for a busy night, but elegant enough to serve guests or family!

Pork chops with apples are a classic combination of flavors, and the cinnamon makes this dish unique. The list of ingredients for these pork chops is very short, which means you want the best quality. After I prepared this dish, the next day I wanted to continue with pork meat. This is why I switched to Barbeque and pork ribs, added a spicy sauce, and finished the pork spree dinners.

What kind of apples goes with pork?

For pairing with the saltiness of pork meat, I recommend sweeter apples that hold their shape while baking, like Granny Smith, Wealthy, or Rome Beauty. But it depends on your family’s taste. Before choosing the suitable apples, buy one of each and ask your family which one they prefer.

Why do pork chops and apples go together?

As the Old Foodie says, the connection between both is evident. Pigs are usually allowed to graze in apple orchards, where they feast and feed on fallen apples. The apple-fed pigs produce pork meat that has a unique and delightful flavor. Moreover, pairing apples with the saltiness of pork meat is one of the best combos I know.

Apples are ripe in autumn, which was also the traditional time for culling the surplus stock that could not be overwintered. The pig was the victim of choice here as much of it was eminently preservable for winter use in the form of sausages, ham, and bacon. The offal and fresh cuts were enjoyed at the time in a fresh meat feast which would be the last for a long time – and as the apples were ripe and in abundance at the same time… apple sauce with pork made senseAs per OLD FOODIE Website

What side dish goes well with this recipe?

I have 3 sides on my mind for this recipe. If you want to keep it simple and traditional, Wedges fries are the most used. If you want something more healthy as your side dish, Fried Green Beans is a great option. But if you need something really special and have time on your hands, is full of flavor, and looks great on a plate, Cheese Twice-Baked Potatoes are definitely the right choice.

Notes and Tips

  1. Essential Equipment: 1 1/2-quart casserole, small nonstick skillet (8- or 10-inch size).
  2. Follow cook times for pork carefully. Today’s pork meat is lean and requires shorter cooking times. Overcooking pork will make it tough.
