The Italian version of Vegan Pizza

Freshness is an influential part of Italian cooking style and it goes a long way towards producing that classic taste of authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The flavor that stays with you after consuming an outstanding Italian dish comes from the skillful blend of simple, uncorrupted ingredients harmonizing together in a mouth-watering combination. Here we will look at some of the key fresh ingredients in Italian cooking that bring all sorts of nutritional benefits to a dish, as well as unbeatable flavor.

The reason for the RED color on the Italian flag, the beating heart of Italy, is the start and finish of every great pizza or spaghetti dish: Italian cooking wouldn’t be Italian without tomatoes!

Italian cuisine and use of TOMATOES

Tomatoes are a staple part of the Italian diet and you can find them in everything from passata to bruschetta and/or Caprese. Fresh tomatoes contain high levels of antioxidants, vitamins C and K, potassium and folate. This means that they can help to reduce the risk of heart disease and could have anti-carcinogenic properties. Italy produces a vast array of different tomato varieties.

The important use of Garlic

Garlic is often hailed as the ultimate superfood, boasting antibacterial healing properties, high levels of vitamins and minerals, and the ability to reduce cholesterol. The presence of this strong-tasting bulb shines in the creation of sauces and simple dishes like spaghetti or vegan pizzas.

The important use of Basil

The basil plant is an essential part of Italian cuisine, most notably in export: pesto. Whether mixed into a pesto sauce or served fresh on top of a finished dish, this little leaf packs a powerful punch. It’s full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. Some claim that it combats stress, supports cardiovascular health, and can even fight depression.

Pizza Notes

  1. Making pizza is a year-round activity for me, whether it’s a No-knead, no-stretch pan pizza in the winter, a grilled pizza party in the summer or a Neapolitan pie baked.
  2. Pizza can be as simple or as difficult as you’d like it to be.
  3. No time to make the fresh dough? You can buy it.
  4. We’ve all been there. You’re craving fresh pizza, but you just don’t have the time or inclination to make your own dough. Don’t worry, most store-bought pizza dough does just fine.
  5. Whether you’re making a cooked sauce or simply using hand-crushed tomatoes straight out of the can, you should be using a good brand.
