Mashed Potatoes with Lamb Meat

Recipe's Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
8 boneless Lamb Cutlets
4 medium Potatoes peeled and diced
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Milk
1 Tablespoon Butter
2 cans diced Tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
1/4 teaspoon dried Oregano
1/2 teaspoon Mediterranean Herbs
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
Instead of Lamb Cutlets, use Lamb Chops
You can also add
1 Tablespoon Barbeque Sauce

Steps for Mashed Potatoes with Lamb Meat

10 Minutes

Prepare and boil the potatoes

Peel the potatoes, In large saucepan boil potatoes until softened.

Cook the lamb cutlets

Meanwhile preheat the olive oil in a frypan over medium heat. Cook lamb cutlets for 5 minutes each side or until cooked to your liking. Once the meat is cooked, remove from pan and dice it into large chunks, then place it aside.

Mash the potatoes

Once potatoes have softened, drain the water, add milk, butter, pepper, and mash until smooth.

Prepare the seasoning and mix it with the lamb

Heat the diced tomatoes in a small saucepan over low heat and season with rosemary, oregano, and Mediterranean herbs. After 30 seconds add the lamb and cook for another 1 minute.

Wrapping Up

Once hot, place the tomatoes and lamb mixture over the mashed potatoes. You can also add Barbeque Sauce for a better design and taste. Serve hot. Enjoy!

Do not omit this kind of meat, especially if you want a simple dish (like this one). Another reason is that we, Americans, omit lamb almost 93.7% from their cooking… too bad for us :(. Today I wanted to have a simple dish of mashed potatoes and I remembered the importance of lamb meat. Therefore, I made this “WoW” mashed potatoes with lamb, rosemary, oregano, and Mediterranean herbs pack (preferably Greek brand).

Anyway, the taste is greater than you can imagine, but you’ll trust me only after you’ll prepare it. Moreover, to reduce the cost of the meal, try a different cut of lamb, such as lamb chops. 




What goes well with mashed potatoes & lamb meat?

To complete the meal, serve with greens or mixed seasonal vegetables. You can choose a simple salad such as tomatoes, cucumber, and green onion (you can also sprinkle some cheese on it), or choose not to have a salad at all. For a simple recipe like this one, I cannot think of a better dish to go with than salad, therefore, nothing else goes well with the mashed potatoes & lamb meat.

What makes this recipe a Greek specialty?

I know, the recipe resembles the American dish, but besides the lamb meat (as I said, we are accustomed to beef, pork or chicken with mashed potatoes), I have added some herbs (Mediterranean ones), changing this way the flavor of it. I have balanced the amount of each herb to comply with the American taste, but still remain a Greek specialty.
